Poetry

Aftermath of Miracle

by Eric Potter in the February 2023 issue
ShareShare on TwitterShare on FacebookEmail to a friendPrint

When the crowds leave, we’re left
With the excess—
        oily fish, baskets of bread—
Too much to cart across the desert.

We never asked for this.
Our lives crowded enough
           without needing
To make room for the unexpected.

This poem appears in the February 2023 issue.
