Poetry

Moses Hull

In the end,
what becomes of us,
we who saw more light
than others,
and still chose to turn
away from the cross?
                    Shall we
                    have a second chance
                    to argue our singular case
                   about how too much light
                   often leads to blindness?

For in the end,
the light was never ours to master or deny;
there must be mercy for the fleeing souls
that, fearing what the light revealed,
chose shadows
over being whole.
