Moving down in the world: Called to a smaller place
Recently I was called from a larger church to a smaller church. It's not the usual order of things.
Something to offer
When the prayers of the people begin, the Stephens' pew in the back starts to thump. Ten-year-old Mallory is working her way toward the door. As I hand the offering baskets to the ushers, she returns with a large cooler.
Clear call
He finished seminary at the head of his class and could have gone on to earn a Ph.D. But he wanted to serve a local congregation--preferably a small one.
