The U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp honoring Father Theodore M. Hesburgh during a ceremony September 1 at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, where Hesburgh was president for 35 years.

“This stamp is a lasting testament to his pioneering contributions as a cham­pion of social justice, an advocate for in­ternational aid, and an emissary for peace,” said Megan J. Brennan, postmaster general and CEO.

Rebecca Samuel Dali was recognized especially for her efforts to reintegrate women and their children who had been held captive by militants.
