Lutheran World Relief has received a $640,104 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help nomadic communities in Niger avert food crises through new approaches that help bring vulnerable populations back from the brink of hunger.

The Christian Reformed Church will continue to be governed by men only—for now. At its annual policymaking meeting, held in Palos Heights, Illinois, the all-male CRC Synod on June 15 backed away from a proposal to allow female delegates. When a majority of regional governing groups allows female ministers, then allowing women delegates should be considered, delegates decided.

The Church of England will be “increasingly isolated and anachronistic” unless it accepts women as bishops, a working party of the Anglican Church has concluded.

The African Methodist Episcopal Church, after electing its first woman bishop four years ago, raised two more females to the episcopacy this month at its quadrennial meeting in Indianapolis. They also elected an unprecedented three native African bishops as a sign of AME commitment to indigenous leadership on that continent.
