John C. Dorhauer begins work as UCC president

John C. Dorhauer began work in Cleve­land on September 1 as the United Church of Christ’s general minister and president.

Dorhauer, who has served as conference minister of the UCC Southwest Con­ference and as a pastor in ru­ral Missouri, is author of Beyond Resistance: The Insti­tu­tional Church Meets the Post­modern World. He has a doctor of ministry degree from United Theological Seminary, where he studied white privilege and its effects on the church.

His plans include rebuilding relationships between local churches and the national church and strengthening partnerships with other faith groups and organizations, according to the UCC News.
