Joseph T. Reiff teaches at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia. He is working on a book about the "Born of Conviction" statement published in January 1963 by 28 white Methodist ministers in Mississippi.
Started in 1992 by a loose coalition of white and black evangelicals in Jackson, Mission Mississippi's early efforts were geared toward big events. Later the focus shifted to personal relationships.
