Had breakfast at a restaurant with my parents this morning. The conversation was wide ranging, and it was nice to have a chance to enjoy their company without anyone else occupying their attention (as is often the case in a big family). It happened not too far outside of Philly, which was just too close for comfort. More painful, was the details surrounding the beatings and torture, of this 3 year old child by his mom and her boyfriend which led to his death. Given that I have a three year old son, it was impossible for me to not think of him as I heard about the violence inflicted on this small child's body as he was hung by his feet and tortured. I believe Jesus was present with this little one, completely identifying with him amdist the senseless violence. Lord, have mercy on us all.
