Peacework, by Henri Nouwen

Nouwen, known for his writings on spirituality, was committed to the peacemaking of Jesus and was able to make the connection between the inward journey of spirituality and the outward journey of peacemaking and care for the marginalized. Nouwen wrote this book in the 1980s, and part of it appeared in a church journal. Now the complete book appears for the first time. As the subtitle suggests, Nouwen saw three aspects to Jesus’ way of peacemaking: a life of prayer, resistance to the powers that be, and the development of communities that embody peace. He uses his expertise in pastoral psychology in accounting for the lack of peace in the world.
