Oral Roberts University has settled a year-old lawsuit with two former professors who claimed that their actions as whistleblowers cost them their jobs. Former professors Tim and Paulita Brooker alleged that ORU president Richard Roberts and his family engaged in lavish, unchecked spending and illegal activity.

In a church election watched closely, Jeffrey Lee, a Midwest native and rector of a church in Medina, Washington, was picked on the second ballot November 10 to be the next Episcopal bishop of Chicago. Lee won over seven other candidates, including Tracey Lind, the openly lesbian dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland.

Bob Jones III, the chancellor of Bob Jones University, a conservative Christian school in Greenville, South Carolina, has endorsed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination for president. “As a Christian I am completely opposed to the doctrines of Mormonism,” Jones told the Greenville News October 16.

Oral Roberts University, which made headlines 20 years ago when its namesake founder said God would “call him home” unless he raised $8 million, finds itself embroiled in controversy again.
