In the last few year, it's been incredible to see undocumented immigrants courageously gathering, organizing, demonstrating for reform, outing themselves as undocumented. Yesterday marked the beginning of the Obama administration's new policy of allowing immigrants brought to the country as children to apply for the temporary right to stay here—without a path to citizenship, but without fear of deportment, either.

Around the country, people came out in huge numbers to apply. Here in Chicago, this took place at Navy Pier. My friend Andrew works at Chicago Public Radio, which is located on the pier. He shot this incredible video yesterday while walking the length of the line of people—a 30-minute undertaking he compresses to two:
