In the World

Ah. Apparently someone actually did a Dylan Eucharist...

We’ve had a lively go
in the comments about the Bruce Springsteen Eucharist held recently by
an Oregon church. I asked people to predict the next pop-music communion
service.

Abram K-J suggested Bob Dylan:

You've
got the inevitable "Gotta Serve Somebody" (for a Prayer of Thanksgiving
after the Eucharist and sending out), "Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of
Bread" (obviously), and, for Zwinglians, "Precious Memories."

I
countered with a different closing/sending song: "Most Likely You'll Go
Your Way and I'll Go Mine, to Love and to Serve." Then Dave jumped on Abram’s comparative-eucharistic-theology-jokes wagon:

The Lutherans and Catholics can sing "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" while the Zwinglians can enjoy "I'm Not There."

Now Chad has chimed in to alert us to the fact that truth is stranger than fiction, or rather, equally strange but with less amusing examples. Wow.

Another commenter, mrawle2000, predicted a “WHOcharist.” If that turns out to be true—complete with instrument smashing?!—I’ll give up on trying to mock this stuff.
