A Catholic bishop in Missouri has avoided a second criminal charge for failing to report suspected child abuse by agreeing to allow prosecutors to oversee similar allegations against church officials in their county for the next five years.

(RNS) For all the political hubbub over Mormonism, youmight have thought Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman are the first Mormons to run for president.

    In fact, 11 Latter-day Saints have campaigned for the White House, including the faith’s founder, Joseph Smith.

(RNS) Bishop Robert Finn of Kansas City, Mo., has been charged with failing to report the suspected abuse of a child, making him the first active bishop in the United States to face criminal prosecution over the sexual abuse of children by a priest.
